If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way!
The Dubai International Holy Quran Awards 2010 which saw its conclusion this Ramadhan drew many young Qari’s from all across the globe. It was heart warming to see the little competitor from Sri Lanka giving tune to the Holy Quran in a manner befitting its Nobility. May Allah guide him and make him understand all that he recites to its very depth!
“……..and recite the Quran in a slow style”.
(Al Quran 73:4)
“So, when the Quran is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy.”
(Al Quran 7:204)
“The first participant to sit on stage in front of five Islamic scholars and with an audience of hundreds watching was a 13-years-old Sri Lankan contestant, who doesn’t know Arabic but managed to recite the Quran eloquently.
Safarulla Khan Mohammad Safan began memorising the Quran at the age of 10 and completed the 30 chapters within a year and a half.
He goes to a boarding school which has 36 students, all of whom are taught by Arab teachers. He is one of 11 who have completely memorized the Quran.
His father died when he was just three years old and he now lives with his mother, his uncle, and his two younger brothers in Kandy, Sri Lanka.”
